The news we have all been waiting for is finally here! The NI Executive and DE have confirmed that all P1-7 pupils can return to face to face teaching from Monday 22nd March 2021.
The staff and I are absolutely delighted that all our pupils will be returning to the classroom from Monday. It has been a very challenging second term of school for everyone. All staff, teaching and non-teaching, have been working extremely hard with remote learning, supervision and many other important jobs behind the scenes – so I would like to thank each and every one of them. As parents, you have also done an amazing job of juggling home life and taking on the extra role of teacher – which is certainly not an easy one. Your continued support and engagement with remote learning has been amazing – so thank you. Finally, a special well done and thank you must be extended to all of our pupils. You have worked so hard at home and we cannot wait to have you all back in school.
I would please ask that you read the information below to familiarise and remind yourselves with the operations that were in place during the first term of school. Arrival and Collection Times
Where possible we aim to limit the footfall of people entering our school grounds, but if you must accompany your child, then you must adhere to social distancing and wear a face covering. Parents / guardians will not be permitted into the school buildings unless by prior appointment or in an emergency.
On arrival pupils should enter school by the following doors and proceed to their classrooms (as in Term 1).
**From Monday, P3G will return to their mobile classroom and P6P will move to the assembly hall**
o Main door: P3K, P5F, P5G, P6McK/P, P6P
o Door beside assembly hall: P3C, P4D, P4H, P6R, LSC and ASC pupils
o P1 pupils to enter via the emergency exit doors directly into their classrooms
o P2 pupils to enter via the P1/2 door from P1 playground
o P7 pupils to enter via P7 toilets door
o P3G and P4McM – go directly to mobiles (P6P temporarily in the assembly hall)

Surnames H-M 9.00am
Surnames N-Z 9.10am
Home Time: P1 1.50pm
P2- P3 2.05pm
P4-P5 2.50pm (Monday – Thursday) 2.10pm (Friday)
P6-7 3.05pm (Monday – Thursday) 2.15pm (Friday)
No 3pm bus on Fridays – pupils may use the 2pm bus or may need to be collected at school.
Break, lunch and school meals
Pupils will need a healthy mid-morning snack which may be brought in a disposable bag / container (preferably paper or cardboard to assist with recycling) or plastic lunch box. Children will need a water bottle – but please be aware that there is no access to refilling bottles throughout the day. Plastic bottles, boxes and containers must be thoroughly cleaned each evening.
School dinners will be available from Monday 22nd March 2021 and these can be booked via the online booking system. If you are experiencing any issues with this, please contact the school office.
Pupils should wear full school uniform including black school shoes. PE kit (school polo shirt, jumper, navy or black bottoms and PE shoes) should be worn on PE days – your child’s teacher will remind you of what days this applies to. Please contact the school office if you have if have any issues with uniform.
What to bring
School bags will not be required for now. All pupils will need to bring in a pencil case with their own writing materials which will be kept for their personal use in school. Each year group will advise as to what each pupil needs. Please be aware that sharing of equipment is not permitted.
With your help, KPS will continue to promote:
good hand hygiene and
follow the PHA guidance of ‘Catch it…Bin it…Kill it’.
If your child or anyone in your household displays any of the following symptoms:
o High temperature
o A new, continuous cough
o A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

Class Dojo (individual teachers)
School will close on Friday 26th March 2021 at the following times for the Easter Holidays:
o surnames A-G 11.50am
o surnames H-M 12 noon
o surnames N-Z 12.10pm
Friday will be a non-uniform day and there will be no paid school dinners. Children entitled to a free school meal can be collected at 12.10pm. No buses will be available on Friday afternoon.
Term 3 begins on Monday 12th April 2021. Please see the school newsletter for other key dates. I will also be in touch with you after Easter regarding parent teacher meetings.
