Kilkeel Primary School
EDUCATION AUTHORITY SOUTHERN REGION
Wednesday 6th January 2021
Dear Parent / Guardian
Following the latest guidance from the Executive and DE, face to face teaching will now not take place next week as had been planned. We have been instructed to continue with remote teaching until at least the mid-term break in February. This is not what any of us had hoped for, as we would all prefer to be back in school.
Remote Learning Packs
As remote learning has been extended, work packs will now be available. I would please ask that you collect your family’s pack at the allocated time slot to minimise the number of people in and on the school grounds. If, however, you are unable to collect the pack, please message your child’s teacher via Class DoJo or telephone the school office.
Collection drive through times are as follows: Monday 11th January or Tuesday 12th January 2021
Families with surnames A to G 10am -11am
Families with surnames H to M 11.30am – 12.30pm
Families with surnames N to Z 1pm – 2pm
Supporting Children of Key Workers / Vulnerable Children
As highlighted in my previous letter, I would please ask you to seriously reflect on your need for provision in school over the next few weeks. Please be aware that pupils in school will not be receiving active teaching nor will the school day be ‘normal’. Children will merely be supervised in the completion of the home learning activities that will be provided for all pupils. This supervision will be provided by classroom assistants in a limited area of the school building as teachers are fully involved in remote learning.
Please note that any level of school supervision will be totally dependent on staff availability and this may be fully withdrawn if lack of staffing becomes an issue.
In light of this, I have created a new online form which must be submitted by 2pm on the Friday before the week in which you require supervision (please click on the link below) so that the essential arrangements can be made. If your circumstances change and you no longer require a place, please email me at hmccabe555@c2kni.net as soon as possible.

- He / she must be wearing school uniform
- Assistants on duty in school will only supervise children as they work on their home learning activities
- Normal school hours apply, but this is not a normal school day
- Pupils will need to bring a snack for break time, a drink and a packed lunch
- School transport is not available
Yours sincerely
